Police have caught the driver of a lorry who allegedly caused a 14-vehicle pile-up

Lorry driver nabbed over 14-vehicle pile-up

SHAH ALAM: Police have caught the driver of a lorry who allegedly caused a 14-vehicle pile-up at Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari.
Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Shafien Mamat said Tuesday that the 54-year-old man was caught at Batang Berjuntai.
“The suspect has previous summonses for beating a red light in 2007 and unsecured cargo in 2014.
Both summonses have not been settled,” he said, adding that 13 police reports had been lodged so far with all the drivers having their statements taken.
ACP Shafien said the lorry carrying sand would be sent to The Road Transport Department to have it weighed before Puspakom investigates the drivers’ claims that its brakes failed.
It was reported that the lorry was moving along the road when the driver lost control of the vehicle at 1.30pm on Monday.
The lorry then collided with nine cars on its lane and another three from the opposite side at an intersection.
The crash also led to two other vehicles, a car and a lorry, to skid off the side of the road when the drivers tried to avoid the accident.
There were no fatalities.
