Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad started working from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in Perdana Putra, Putrajaya today.

Mahathir had previously operated at his office at the Perdana Leadership Foundation here after Pakatan Harapan, led by him, won the 14th general election on May 9.

Clad in a black suit, Mahathir arrived at the Perdana Putra lobby at 8.25am and was welcomed by Prime Minister's Department senior deputy secretary-general Mohd Zuki Ali.

Mahathir then went to the fifth floor where his office is situated and was greeted by Chief Secretary to the Government Ali Hamsa. Prayers were recited before he entered his office.

He also signed the commencement of duty letter.

Mahathir will chair the first cabinet meeting later.

Mahathir returned to the PMO after 15 years. Malaysia’s fourth prime minister since 1981 had "clocked out" from the office on Oct 31, 2003.

Mahathir, 92, was sworn in as Malaysia’s seventh prime minister after leading the Harapan coalition to a stunning GE14 victory, thus becoming the oldest prime minister in the world.
