PETALING JAYA: The safe belonging to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has been opened, and is said to contain cash.

According to Malay daily Sinar Harian, two locksmiths managed to open the old safe at Najib's Taman Duta residence.

The safe had allegedly been unopened for 20 years after the key to the safe has supposedly been "misplaced".

"The task of opening the safe has been completed and the safe contains cash," a source told Sinar Harian but declined to elaborate further.
Investigations are still ongoing, and the locksmiths are said to be working on opening eight more safes.
