KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 — City police arrested 59 people, mostly foreigner, during a raid to weed out drug abuse and illegal immigrants at Pasar Borong Kuala Lumpur.

Deputy city police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Zainuddin Yaacob said a total of 67 people were checked during the joint operation between the narcotics investigations department and National Anti-Drug Agency.

He said among the 59 detained were foreigners from Myanmar, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India and Nepal during the operation at 4am.

“The suspects arrested were aged between 21 and 50-years-old

“We brought all of those detained to the Sentul Police Headquarters for further urine tests and found 15 of them tested positive,” he said in a statement today.

Zainuddin said 47 out of the 59 arrested did not have valid travel documents.

“With the success of this operation, the police will continue to carry out similar operations in the same area,” he said.
