Malaysian women's bowling team claims gold at world championships after 10 years

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia are world bowling champions again after 10 years.

Shalin Zulkifli, Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman, Sin Li Jane, Syaidatul Afifah Badrul Hamidi and Natasha Roslan recaptured the women's team gold they last won in Monterrey, Mexico in 2007 after defeating arch-rivals Singapore 214-209, 188-177 in the final at the South Point Bowling Center in Las Vegas on Sunday (Dec 3).
Earlier in the semi-final, Shalin and Co prevailed 198-207, 248-168, 182-181 in a nail-biting encounter against Colombia.
This is Malaysia third women's title in the championships' history, having also won in 2003 in Kuala Lumpur.
The tournament will conclude with the Masters events.
Malaysia have four players qualified for it — Shalin, Li Jane and Siti Safiyah, and Ahmad Muaz Fishol in the men's division.
