PETALING JAYA: Parti Amanah Negara vice-president Datuk Husam Musa confirmed that his son was remanded for drug possession, but says he has not received any information from the police.

Husam said he only knew that his son, Ahmad Syafi, was remanded from a news report that he received via WhatsApp.

"Until now, the police have not sent me a formal report about my son's arrest," Husam said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 19) night.

He added that the police did not notify him that his son would be sent to the court on Sunday morning to be remanded, nor was he informed of where his son is currently detained.

He said he would release a full statement after meeting his son.

It was reported that a 29-year-old son of an assemblyman was arrested after being caught with 200 methamphetamine pills on Saturday (Nov 18).

He was remanded for four days after police caught him with a blue plastic bag filled with 198 red-coloured pills and two green-coloured pills believed to be drugs in front of a house in Jalan Pasir Mas-Salor at 3.30pm.
