1.346 Delegate Voted To Pick the Party 20 Central Executive Committee (CEC) Members as Lim Kit Siang Comes out Top.





SHAH ALAM: DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang drew the most number of votes at the DAP Special Congress at the Ideal Convention Centre here to pick the party's 20 central executive committee (CEC) members.

Kit Siang amassed 1,199 votes, with Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo just one vote behind with 1,198 votes.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng came in third place with 1,180 votes.

The late Karpal Singh, who died in April 2014 came in at 54th place with 43 votes.
The 20 people who drew the most votes were:

3. Lim Guan Eng (1,180)
4. Anthony Loke Siew Fook (1,175)
5. Liew Chin Tong (1,123)
6. Teo Nie Ching (1,080)
7. Chong Chieng Jen (1,057)
8. Teresa Kok Suh Sim (1,033)
9. Tan Kok Wai (1,021)
10. Tony Pua Kiam Wee (1,020)
11. Nga Kor Ming (967)
12. Fong Kui Lun (949)
13. Chow Kon Yeow (900)
14. M. Kula Segaran (826)
15. Chong Eng (734)
16. Teng Chang Khim (702)

The newly-elected CEC was still holed up at press time deliberating the 10 appointed members as well as the distribution of party positions amongst the top 20.

This is the third time the CEC elections were held since 2012.

The 2012 CEC polls results were disputed by some members due to a glitch in the process.

A second CEC polls was held seven months later in September 2013 but the results were rejected by the RoS.

The same delegates list that was used in 2012 and 2013 was used this time around.
