PETALING JAYA: If you think the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are pricey, think again.
While the new generation iPhones cost at least RM3,649, the 10th anniversary model, iPhone X, will cost much more.
Apple Malaysia revealed on its website on Saturday that the iPhone X will retail at RM5,149 for 64GB and RM5,899 for the 256GB model.
Two colour options are available — Silver and Space Grey.
In the United States, the phones are priced at US$999 (RM4,201) and US$1,149 (RM4,832).
Meanwhile in Singapore, the iPhone X retails at S$1,648 (RM5,134) for 64GB model and S$1,888 (RM5,882) for the 256GB model — quite similar to the local pricing.
The iPhone X is the first iPhone to feature an Amoled screen with a 5.8in (1,125 x 2,436 pixels) bezel-less design where the screen stretches to the edge, similar to many flagship smartphones today.
However, the front Touch ID home button has been removed to accommodate the new display design. Instead, users will have to make do with the new Face ID facial recognition technology to unlock the phone.
Wireless charging has been added this time around, similar to the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. This is due to the new rear glass design in all the latest generation iPhones.
While the prices have been revealed, you might have to wait awhile as Apple has yet to disclose the availability details of the phone.
Given the general release date in the United States is on Nov 3, it probably won’t be long before the iPhone X hits our shores.
