Thousands paid their last respects to 11 victims who died in the fire as they were laid to rest at the Raudatul Sakinah cemetery in Gombak

KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands paid their last respects to 11 victims who died in the fire as they were laid to rest at the Raudatul Sakinah cemetery in Gombak here.

Many mourners waited for hours before the burial was completed at about 9pm yesterday.
Those buried there include bro­thers Muhammad Syafiq Haikal Mohd Sulaiman, 13, Muhammad Hafiz Iskandar, 11, and Muhammad Harris Ikhwan, 10.
Their mother Mashawani Moha­med Shahid, 37, her voice choked with emotion, thanked those who helped with the burial.
Others buried there are Muham­mad Zatullah Roslan, 11; Ahmad Harith Adam Mohd Nor Hadi, 12; Muhammad Taufik Hidayat Nora­zi­zan, 16; Muhammad Hazim Ahmad Nor, 13; Muhammad Nizammudin Nasron, 13; Muhammad Danieal Md Amin, 14; Amiel Asyraaf Abd Rasid, 11; and Muhammad Aidil Aqmal Mohd Zamzuri, 10.
Four other victims were buried at the Jalan Ampang Muslim cemetery.
Brothers Azkar Dariemi F. Zas­kar, eight, and Azkar Abiedi, 11, were buried in the same grave as their cousin Muhammad Afiq Haqi­mie Hairulizwan, 11, just before Maghrib prayers.
Abd Aziz Abas, 60, was devasta­ted because he lost three precious grandchildren.
The remains of Nik Muhammad Ridzuan Nik Azalan, 12, were also laid to rest at the cemetery near the grave of his sister who died in 2015.
In Seremban, 11-year-old Mu­­ham­­­mad Fahmie Abdullah’s body was laid to rest at Tuan Haji Said Muslim cemetery.
Mother Noor Azlina Bakry, 36, said when she heard about the fire, she was not concerned as she thought it was just a minor incident.
“I didn’t think much about it. A short while later I got a call from a sibling who told me there were many casualties and that I should check on my son,” she said, sobbing.
