Transport Ministry quashes rumours of cameras at toll booth






KUALA LUMPUR: No cameras, including the AES, are installed at toll booths to nab errant motorists, the Transport Ministry said.

A spokesman said it was not true that closed circuit cameras or AES cameras were installed at toll booths after a recording to warn motorists of such cameras at toll booths went viral.

“So far, AES cameras are installed to nab speeding motorists and those beating the traffic lights,” the spokesman said on Saturday.

The voice recording, accompanied by a photograph at a toll booth, said the cameras were installed at toll booths to catch motorists using their handphones as well as those who did not wear seat belts.




“Beware of the cameras or CCTV at the toll booths, targeting those who are using their mobile phone and did not wear seat belts.

“The cameras will catch you and you will be issued summons,” the message said
