Grab Malaysia probes driver assault incident

KUALA LUMPUR: Grab Malaysia is currently investigating the incident where one of its drivers had allegedly assaulted a Form Five student.
GrabCar and GrabTaxi head of Klang Valley operations Wan Khye Theng said that the ride-sharing company would take the necessary steps against the alleged driver once the probe is completed.
"We do not tolerate any acts of physical violence or verbal abuse from both passengers and drivers," she said.
Wan urged both drivers and passengers to use its distress signal should unfortunate incidents occur.
"Please do not hesitate to contact our customer service hotline, or use the SOS button in the passenger app or the police button in the driver app," she added.
Earlier Sunday, police arrested a male Grab driver after he allegedly attacked his 17-year-old female passenger and broke her nose.
According to the police, the suspect has been a Grab driver for at least two years and did not have any criminal report.
The Grab driver is currently being remanded until Aug 16 to assist with investigations.
