SEREMBAN: A 20-year-old woman was injured in a fire that broke out when the gas cylinder in the kitchen of a shop-house exploded in Taman Seremban Jaya here, today.

The fire in the double storey shop-house was believed to have started around 9.50am, when the shop owner’s daughter was heating up food for them at the back of their premises.

Senior Fire Officer from Senawang Fire and Rescue Department said, the victim suffered burn on her feet and hand.

A fire engine and an Emergency Medical Response Service (EMRS) van with one officer and four members arrived at the scene at 10.12am.

“However, the victim was already sent to a private hospital to receive treatment by one of her family member”, Fazli said today.

“The fire was not caused by the blast, but it damaged some of the equipment at the shop-house, including glass shelves that houses a variety of sporting goods”, he added.

Fazli also said that, in their initial investigation, they found that there was leakage to the tubes and the head of the used gas barrel, as well as the closed kitchen conditions because there are no windows.
