ORGE TOWN, April 11 ― A Penang developer with a “Datuk Seri” title and his son were detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today for investigation into a land scandal said to be worth millions of ringgit.

The duo’s detention comes barely two weeks after a prominent “Datuk” who sits on the board of several public listed companies was arrested, remanded and then released in connection to the same case.

The 74-year-old Datuk Seri, who is a well-known developer in Penang, was detained by MACC officers from Putrajaya at the state MACC headquarters here at about 6.57pm today.

The businessman's 47-year-old son, who is also a Datuk, was arrested by MACC officials in Putrajaya at about the same time.

It is learnt that both father and son will be taken to the Magistrate's court here tomorrow morning for a remand order.

They are believed to be under investigation over a land scandal involving hundreds of acres related to a Bumiputra foundation.

This is the same case in which a prominent 70-year-old Datuk was remanded on March 30 and released on a RM100,000 bond on April 3.
