Armed robbers get away with RM700K in jewellery

KUALA LUMPUR: Armed robbers have struck a gold and jewellery shop in a shopping mall, walking away with about RM700,000 in stolen wares.

According to Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Shahrul Othman, a member of the public alerted police to the robbery in Endah Parade, Sri Petaling at noon on Saturday.
“There were five workers in the shop at the time of the robbery, including one armed guard.
“Initial reports show that a suspect armed with a gun had hit the guard on the neck, and ordered him to lie on the ground. Three other robbers then smashed the display cabinet with a hammer and ran away with 20 trays of various jewellery,” he said.
ACP Shahrul added that the suspects also took the security guard’s revolver before getting away in a gold-coloured Toyota.
Forensic officers on the scene recovered four glass shards for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 395/ 397 of the Penal Code, for armed gang robbery.
