Cops seeking driver of car WA 6502 u  caught on video blocking ambulance

SHAH ALAM: Police are tracing the whereabouts of the driver of a Perodua MyVi who was caught on camera obstructing an ambulance in the emergency lane of the Federal Highway.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Seri Abdul Samah Mat said he was aware that a video of the incident had gone viral on social media.

“We urge the driver to come forward immediately to help with investigations.

“I also want to advise the public not to take action into their own hands,” Comm Abdul Samah told reporters during a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters here yesterday.

The two-minute-and-five-second video seems to be dashboard camera footage from the ambulance, and the incident allegedly took place along the Federal Highway road near Shah Alam.

The video begins with the words: “Respect?!

“Respect the rights of emergency lane usage (Hormati hak pengunaan lorong kecemasan).”

Sirens can be heard blaring in the background as the ambulance is seen travelling on the emergency lane.

While some road users are seen giving way to the ambulance, the emergency vehicle then catches up with a black MyVi.

The car keeps its left indicator on and refuses to give way to the ambulance as other vehicles also abusing the emergency lane rush to get out of the way.

Close to the end of the video, the Perodua suddenly brakes and almost causes the ambulance to collide with it.

The car is then seen speeding off.

Those with information on the case should contact the police hotline at 03-2052 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
