KUALA LUMPUR: Two men were assaulted by at least four suspects in a scuffle caught on a smartphone camera which has since gone viral on social media since Saturday evening.

However, according to Ampang Jaya deputy district police chief Supt Mohd Zaid Hassan, the victim decided not to lodge a police report over the matter which took place at Puncak Athenaeum condominium in Bukit Antarabangsa.

Mohd Zaid said police received a report lodged by the security guard but not the victim or the alleged perpetrators.

"Initially, both parties had decided to settle the matter between themselves amicably, but since the security guard lodged a police report, we will initiate an investigation under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting," he said.

Mohd Zaid said the assault took place due to a misunderstanding arising from a minor accident between a one-ton lorry and a group of men which took place earlier.

In the 2 minute 49 second video, the victim in red could be seen defending himself helplessly as he was pinned to the ground and was repeatedly kicked and punched.

Another man, believed to be the victim's counterpart, was also seen being manhandled but fled from the condo.

"No arrest has been made till now. and we will screen the closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) footage to identify the assailants," he added.
