British tourist catches hotel worker watching child porn

MALACCA: A British academician exposed a suspected paedophile while holidaying here with his wife and his child.
The 24-year-old and his wife found a hotel employee, who is a Bangladeshi national, watching child pornography online at the front counter of a budget hotel at Bandar Hilir.
In one of the videos, a baby boy seemed to be sexually assaulted by an elderly man.
The tourist lodged a police report last Saturday at Melaka Tengah police headquarters.
The police detained a 31-year-old Bangladeshi to assist in investigations on the same day.
State Private Sector Affairs, Human Resources and NGO Affairs committee chairman Datuk M.S. Mahadevan said he was briefed about the incident.
He said he would meet the Bangladeshi’s employer and move to cancel his working permit once police have completed their investigation.
“I was told this was not the first time the Bangladeshi watched child pornography. His fetish could pose risk to children staying at the hotel,” Mahadevan said.
He added that there is also an urgent need to look into the indecent behaviour of foreigners working at eateries, who were “being cheeky” to female patrons, and rude foreign security guards.
“There have been a slew of complaints, and we need to call all employers for a roundtable talk. They have to train their foreign workers on our culture,” he said.Mahadevan said all these incidents could smear the reputation of the local tourism industry.
