Two In Family Of Six Dead After Car Ends Up Under Trailer\


YONG PENG: A family of six travelling between Yong Peng and Pagoh last night (Saturday) were involved in a seven-vehicle pileup, killing two of them on the spot.

In the 9pm incident at Km115.6 of the North-south expressway, near Yong Peng, a six-axle trailer crashed into the family's car. The trailer mowed down the car, which ended up at the trailer's undercarriage.

The crash also involved two smaller lorries and three cars. The impact cause the car to be dragged for 12 metres.

Batu Pahat district police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Wahib Musa said two passengers in the car died on the spot as they were pinned in the wrecked vehicle.

"The four others in the car suffered severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital in Batu Pahat," he said.

He said he is still waiting for a full report on the identities and wherebouts of the victims involved in the crash.

Wahib said some of the people in the other vehicles sustained minor injuries, and were seeking treatment at the same hospital.

The case is investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.
