REMBAU: A 16-year-old boy was bitten by a snake while cleaning an abandoned poultry farm near the Sekolah Teknik Rembau on Sunday night.
However, unlike previous incidents of snake attacks, the latest case appeared to result from the snake being provoked.
It was learnt that the incident occurred at 7pm when teenager had spotted the snake in some bushes near the farm and decided to catch it.
In his attempt to catch it by the tail, the snake turned aggressive and bit the boy’s left forearm.
About an hour later, the boy began vomiting before he collapsed.
State Health director Dr Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the victim was rushed to the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban at 10.15pm.
“Doctors found a bite mark and bruises on his left forearm.
“The boy was in stable condition and was placed under observation at the emergency ward until noon today. He has been discharged,” he said
