Man shot three times in robbery bid in Temerloh

TEMERLOH: A man who was seriously injured after being shot three times during a robbery in front of a bank in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah here Monday night is slowly recovering.
Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Sharifuddin Ab Ghani said in the 11pm incident, the 31-year-old victim was heading to his car when he was approached by three armed men.
"They threatened the victim and asked him to hand over his valuables, but he refused and tried to fight them causing one of the suspects to fire three shots at him," Sharifuddin said in a statement here Tuesday.
The victim, who is a driver at a secondary school here suffered severe injuries to his left shoulder and right abdomen. The suspects meanwhile fled after realising a crowd had gathered, he said.
The victim, who was in a critical condition and bleeding profusely, drove his car to the Temerloh Police Station about 500 metres from the crime scene.          
"Police rushed him to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital. The victim is understood to have had surgery to remove the bullet Tuesday morning and is now in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit," said Sharifuddin.
He said police found two live bullets and three bullet casings and personal belongings of the suspects believed to have dropped during the scuffle with the victim.
Sharifuddin said police believe the suspects are still in Temerloh based on information from the public who saw them flee on foot.
"Ops Tutup was being intensified to track the suspects with the help of the Tracker Dog Unit (K9)," he said.
Meanwhile, Temerloh Police chief ACP Anuar Othman said prior to the shooting incident, the three suspects had failed in their bid to rob a couple in a cafe near the bank. They had then moved towards the bank and attempted to rob the victim but also failed.
The sister of the victim, who only wanted to be known as Nana said her brother had regained consciousness and was now able to talk to family members. - Bernama
