Cabinet should overturn decision of Rural Ministers "childish" announcement that MARA will stop sponsoring student to Taylor's.

BESTFBKL: Taylor's University took the right decision to not extend the bus company's contract as they followed the Government directive that Education Institutions and student should not delve into politics.

MCA: Action against varsity childish

PETALING JAYA: MCA slammed Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for retaliating against a private university, saying “education should never be politicised”.
The Rural and Regional Minister recently announced that Mara will no longer sponsor its students to Taylor’s University, but was unable to explain the reason behind the move.
MCA publicity bureau chairman Datuk Chai Kim Sen described the minister’s action as “unbecoming”, going as far as calling him “childish”.
“Education institutes are expected to remain apolitical. Ismail Sabri has fuelled politicising of education,” Chai said.
The decision, according to Chai, will also undermine the Government’s efforts to turn Malaysia into an international education hub.
MCA Religious Harmony Bureau Chairman Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker demanded Ismail Sabri to explain himself.
“If indeed it was politically motivated, we call upon his good office to reconsider and immediately withdraw the announcement in the interest of the scholars,” he said.
Ismail Sabri’s announcement came after the university terminated the services of the bus operator that used vehicles bearing the university’s logo to ferry passengers to the recent Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu rally.
