The Sarawak government has given the green light for electoral reform group Bersih 2.0 to hold its planned assembly at the Song Kheng Hai field tomorrow.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem however advised participants to uphold the Sarawak way of doing things – smoothly and peacefully.

He said the government had offered the Song Kheng Hai field and the state stadium for Bersih organisers to hold the assembly, and they had chosen the Song Kheng Hai field.

He added that the government had given the go-ahead after consulting Kuching South City Council (MBKS) upon receiving the request from the organisers.

Asked on the possibility of civil servants participating in the assembly, he said: "I leave it to the individuals concerned. If they get arrested, I don't know... we will consider (the action) if it happens."

Adenan was met at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today at the launch of the Merdeka Month celebration and “Fly the Jalur Gemilang” campaign organised by the Chief Minister's Office.

Asked about the coming state election date, Adenan said he was happy to have decided the date said, "but I will not tell you when".

He said most of the Barisan Nasional candidates to be fielded for the state election had been finalised. – Bernama, August 28, 2015.
