KUALA LUMPUR: It was a cheerful affair at Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's Hari Raya open house Tuesday, which was attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his new deputy Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Throngs of people were seen coming in and out of Shahrizat's Damansara Heights residence since the early afternoon.
Among the guests were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and the new Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
Some guests, mainly Umno members, were seen making full use of a karaoke set to entertain others.
The Hari Raya do reached its pinnacle at about 6.45pm when Najib made an appearance with his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
He was joined by Dr Ahmad Zahid about ten minutes later, all smiles after his new appointment.
Both left after spending about an hour at Shahrizat's house.
It was also the first function attended by Dr Ahmad Zahid as Najib's number two.
Najib announced a major cabinet reshuffle earlier, which saw the removal of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister.
