Female trio's fake fainting fit fails

KUALA LUMPUR: Three women who were about to be arrested by police here pretended to faint in order to avoid arrest, but were found to be under the influence of drugs instead.
The three women were among 15 people detained in an operation to flush out gambling, drug abuse and illegal entertainment centres in Bukit Bintang and Segambut here under the 11th Ops Bah early Saturday morning.
The were held for various offences under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The Federal Territories Ministry deputy secretary-general (management and socio-economic) Datuk Nor Aini Abd Wahab said the three women in their 20's were merely creating a diversion to avoid arrest.
"After being inspected, the trio were found to be healthy and had taken 'ice', a hellucinogenic pill," she said.
"From the inspections carried out by the Immigration Department at the two entertainment centres, 18 more individuals were arrested for not having personal identification documents and overstaying in the country.
Nor' Aini said Customs also seized 138 bottles of liquor of various brands at both entertainment centres for displaying goods with unpaid duties.
"Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) also seized nine pornographic pictures from both premises," she said.
The 11th Ops Bah in Kuala Lumpur was mounted by 363 personnel headed by the Federal Territories Ministry as well as six government agencies including several non-governmental organisations. - Bernama
