PETALING JAYA: Kajang assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh has resigned from the Selangor Legislative Assembly Monday.
Selangor State Speaker Hannah Yeoh made the announcement at a press conference at 5pm.
She said that Lee personally handed in his resignation letter to her Monday, and that the Election Commission would be informed on Tuesday.
With Lee's resignation, Yeoh officially declared the N25 Kajang seat vacant.
The resignation of Lee, better known as CC Lee in PKR, is believed to be connected to mounting speculation that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is planning to replace Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor Mentri Besar.
Anwar needs to be part of the State Legislative Assembly in order to take over the top job.
