KUALA LUMPUR: A quick-thinking six-year-old boy managed to escape his kidnapper on his own accord when he dashed out from the LRT train they were riding on.
According to the boy, he was grabbed by a man wearing a face mask while he was playing with his friends outside his flat in Bangsar at approximately 4pm on Sunday.
He was taken aboard the LRT train and eventually gathered up the courage and dashed out of the opening doors when the train stopped at the Taman Melati station at around 6pm.
The boy only stopped running when he saw an auxiliary police officer.
"I wanted to run but I was scared. But when I saw the door open and he was looking somewhere else, I just ran as fast as I could outside," he said, adding that the man did not pursue him.
He said there were many people around him but he did not dare call for help for fear of what the man would do to him.
Police said he was picked up at the Taman Melati station and that his father, was alerted after he lodged a police report at the Travers police station.
When met at the scene, his father, an auxiliary police officer, said his wife informed him at 7pm that their son had not returned home.
"I lodged a police report at the Travers police station, and we got the call that he was here. I am very relieved," he said.
Brickfields OCPD ACP Muhammad Azlee Abdullah confirmed the report, adding that the case was considered closed but would investigate more identify the abductor.
