WATER TREATMENT PLANTS HAS RE-STARTED OPERATIONS, WATER SUPPLY TO BE RESTORED

Water supply to areas still affected by the disruption would be restored soon as the four treatment plants which were shut down has started operations this morning.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Department assistant general manager Priscilla Alfred said the clean up of the river was completed by Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (Luas)  last night.
“The treatment plants has started operations at 3am this morning but it will take some time for water to be restored,” she told The New Straits Times.
“Water in the reservoir had depleted and will take some time to build up,” she added.
She also informed that the number of complaints had also decreased.
The water cut was following a diesel spill in Sungai Selangor which resulted in the four water treatment plants having to shut down operations.
The Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (SSP1), Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2), Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) and Rantau Panjang water treatment plants were ordered to shut down immediately after a worker at SSP2 noticed traces of diesel floating down the river at 8am yesterday.
The cut affected over one million users in seven districts - Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Klang/Shah Alam, Gombak, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor with low-water pressure or water disruptions, especially consumers living in higher places; those with small reserves of water and those at the end of the water supply and distribution system.
Meanwhile, Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the diesel oil contamination had successfully been controlled and operations at SSP1 and SSP3 resumed in stages between 12.30am and 1.30am today.
"From 4am to 6am, the production of water at these two plants had increased the raw water reserve level by as much as five metres," he said in a press statement released today.
He assured the public that water supply will recover in stages from this afternoon.

India & Malaysia Qualify For Hockey World Cup

IPOH: Malaysia wasted numerous chances to lose 2-0 to India and let slip the chance of qualifying for their first ever Asia Cup final at the Azlan Shah Cup Stadium on Friday.

India, who got their goals through defender V.R. Raghunath (7th) and Mandeep Singh (60th), will face defending champions South Korea in the final on Sunday.
Malaysia will take on three-time champions Pakistan in the third-placing match.
National coach Paul Revington was disappointed with his strikers’ profligacy.
“We had so many chances compared to India but couldn’t score. I’m disappointed with the forwards for firing blanks,” he said.
“However, we will go all out to get the better of Pakistan to at least win the bronze medal.”
India coach Roelant Oltmans was pleased with his players’ performance, saying “it was our best match so far in the tournament”.
“Malaysia gave us a real good fight from the start to the end but we did well to take an early lead. My players were physically and mentally stronger ... and we’re happy to reach the final,” said the Dutchman.
Forward Faizal Saari was the biggest letdown in the national team as looked lost in the match.
The national defenders, for once, played better in the match.
Malaysia, cheered on by 7,000 fans, went on the offensive right from the start and should have taken the lead through Faizal in the second minute. But his close range shot went inches wide.
A minute later Nabil Fiqri Mohd Noor’s reverse stick attempt from the top D also sailed wide.
India then took the lead in the seventh minute off their first penalty corner, with Raghunath’s powerful drag flick beating goalkeeper S. Kumar.
It was Raghunath’s sixth goal of the tournament.
The Malaysian forwards wasted nearly half a dozen gilt-edged chances in the first-half alone.
Malaysia earned their first penalty corner 10 minutes into the second-half but India goalkeeper P.R. Sreejesh did well to save Mohd Razie Abdul Rahim’s low flick.
Faizal had another golden chance to equalise in the 55th minute but his deflected shot went inches wide.
Three minutes later, Nabil Fiqri missed an open chance.
And India made Malaysia pay for their poor finishing when 18-year-old Mandeep Singh collected a through pass from Ramandeep Singh to tuck the ball into the open goal in the 60th minute.

There was good news for India just before the start of their semifinal clash against the hosts after Korea eked out a narrow 2-1 win over Pakistan in first semi-final.
Three-time champions Pakistan’s defeat means, India and Malaysia have virtually qualified for next year’s World Cup, the official confirmation of which will come only after the conclusion of the Oceania Cup in November.
It will also be the first time Pakistan will not feature in the World Cup since it started in Barcelona in 1971. The South Koreans have already qualified for the World Cup, while India and Malaysia are also virtually through to the World Cup as the first and second reserves.

JAKIM OBJECTS TO HEAVY METAL BAND LAMB OF OF GOD PERFORMING AT ROCKAWAY 2013,ON SEPTEMBER 28,

Jakim objects to ‘Lamb Of God’ band performance at Rockaway 2013 scheduled to be held at KL Life on September 28, 2013

PUTRAJAYA: The Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia (Jakim) has raised objection to the scheduled performance of the United States' heavy metal band, Lamb of God, in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 28.

Its director-general, Datuk Othman Mustapha, said Jakim raised the objection on Friday because the genre of music that the group had performed was a mix of metal songs with the reading of verses from the Quran.
The band had sparked controversy among the Christian community itself as a group that incorporates evil and anti-divine spiritual elements in its performance, he said in a statement.

Othman said the objection was in accordance with the decision of the Fatwa (Edicts) Committee that the practices and acts of black metal groups were misguided and contrary to the true teachings of Islam.
As such, Jakim feared that the performance in the country of heavy metal groups would revive the black metal trend, he said.
Othman said it was hoped that the authorities would not approve the performance of the Lamb of God by taking into consideration the sensitivities of Muslims and to ensure that it did not open up crises related to faith and morality.
The Lamb of God band was previously known as Burn the Priest. - Bernama

Charlie & Delta Force of PDRM Ready for Any Retaliation by Underworld!

PUTRAJAYA: The two special squads which form the Bukit Aman elite force are prepared to face retaliation from the underworld following the identification of 49 triads that have been gazetted as unlawful.

One of the squads, codenamed Charlie, will be tasked with tackling serious crimes while the other, known as Delta, will deal with narcotic offences, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He was certain there would be retaliation from the gangs whose activities have been exposed.
“But this will not stop the force from acting against triad members.
“We will not tolerate any party challenging the police. We must enforce the law without fear or favour,” he said, stressing that support from the public was vital in combating crime.

Ahmad Zahid said the cases involving secret societies were due to fights over territory and revenge against witnesses who had testified against them leading to their detention under the Emergency Ordinance (EO) and the Restricted Residence Act.
“Some of the murders are professional hits for financial gains. We are ready and prepared to act against the gangs through the special squads,” he told The Star.

The squads announced last week consist of the creme de la creme of police personnel in CID and narcotics which Bukit Aman had set up following the recent spate of serious crimes.
Ahmad Zahid said the leaders of the 49 gangs gazetted as unlawful had either been previously arrested under the EO or Restricted Residence Act.
He also said that an additional 50,000 auxiliary police would be recruited by the end of the year to boost security and crime fighting.

SHAH ALAM: Two Good Samaritans thought they could help a woman who was being attacked by armed snatch thieves but ended up ramming into the thieves and woman and causing her death.
Realising that their good deed had gone terribly wrong, they rushed her to a private hospital but it was too late to save her.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Amiruddin Jamaluddin said AirAsia employee Shahrinawati Abu Bakar, 30, had parked her car and was walking towards the entrance of her condominium in Taman Cempaka, Ampang Jaya, after working the night shift when two armed suspects on a motorcycle pounced on her at about 2.45am yesterday.

“Two men who were passing by in a Proton Wira car noticed the attack. The driver reversed the car at high speed and rammed into the suspects but he also hit Shahrinawati,” he said when met at the Selangor police headquarters here yesterday.
He said the suspects got up and escaped on their Yamaha LC machine while the two men immediately rushed the victim to the hospital in Kuala Lumpur.
Shahrinawati Abu Bakar, 30, was killed after two good samaritans hit her while they rammed into two snatch thieves who attacked her early morning on Aug 29.
Shahrinawati who succumbed to her injuries.
“Unfortunately, Shahrinawati was pronounced dead at around 3am,” he said, adding that her body was later been sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a post-mortem.
ACP Amiruddin said the cause of her death had been determined as ruptured heart with chest injury which was consistent with the impact of a motor vehicle collision.
He said the police had taken statements from the two men, two security guards and the victim’s sister, adding that the case had been classified under Section 394 of the Penal Code and Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing hurt during a robbery and reckless driving respectively.
“It was unfortunate that the driver rammed into Shahrinawati. He was only trying to help her,” ACP Amiruddin said.
At the funeral of Shahrinawati at the Bukit Sungai Seputih Muslim cemetery in Kuala Lumpur last night, her family and fiance Mohd Azrul Kamarudin were still in shock over her tragic death.

Mohd Azrul said it was difficult to accept that Shahrinawati was gone.
“We just got engaged in April this year and we were to be married in December,” he said.
He described Shahrinawati, the eldest of four sisters, as a fun-loving, cheerful and caring person.
“We will all miss her dearly,” he said.
Meanwhile, ACP Amiruddin said the police were now focusing their attention on catching the two suspects and pursuing several viable leads, including analysing CCTV footage to enhance the identification of the motorcycle number plate used by the suspects.
Anyone with information on the case should contact the police hotline at 03-2052 9999 or visit the nearest police station.

Airline executive Shahrinawati Abu Bakar's death early today was even more tragic than previously thought when new facts emerged this evening.

Police this evening said she was not slashed to death but died after a motorist who tried to go after the men who had just robbed her hit Shahrinawati instead.Ampang police chief Assistant Commissioner Amiruddin Jamaluddin said it was the motorist and his friend who rushed Shahrinawati to the hospital but she succumbed to her injuries.
"The motorist had witnessed the two men trying to rob the victim. He then reversed his car to stop the two from escaping on a motorcycle but accidentally hit the victim instead," said Amiruddin.

Initial reports suggested that Shahrinawati died from slash wounds inflicted by the robbers but investigations showed otherwise.

The two robbers escaped on a black Yamaha LC motorcycle but it was learnt that one of them dropped his wallet.

The incident occurred in front of the Palm Villa City Garden Condo in Taman Cempaka, Ampang, where the victim stayed with her three younger sisters.

AirAsia X officer Shahrinawati, 30, was attacked by the two men as she got out of her car at about 2.45am.

Best friend Siti Mariam Mohd Hanif, 23, an AirAsia X ground executive, described her as an excellent team leader.

"She was strict when it came to work but that was how she earned everyone's respect. She was a natural problem-solver," Siti Mariam said, adding that the last time she met her friend was at a staff briefing yesterday afternoon.

She was informed of her death by Shahrinawati's fiance Mohd Azrul Kamarudin, a security officer with AirAsia X.

Shahrinawati's father, Abu Bakar Jemain, 53, was calm when met at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary.

"This is fated. Let police handle the investigations," he said.
Abu Bakar, a businessman from Miri, said he last met his daughter on Tuesday at her condo.
"I come down often to KL to meet my daughters."

Friends and colleagues were at the Nurul Hidayah mosque in Pandan Indah this evening to pay their last respects.

Among them was AirAsia X chief executive officer Azran Osman Rani.
Azran paid tribute to Shahrinawati in his email to staff, saying "she was a promising young talent" who had been sent to Melbourne to get international experience.

KUANTAN: A 7m-long python was shot dead after it tried to swallow two goats in Kampung Darat Jering in Sungai Ular on Wednesday.

The goat breeder had to seek help from his neighbour to shoot the python when he saw the reptile attacking a 2-year-old female goat and its week-old kid inside a pen.

Mohd Khairul Anwar Osman, 30, said earlier, he heard some noises from the pen, about 50m from his house.

When he used his car headlights to light up the area, he was shocked to see the python coiling in the pen with the two dead goats near it.

"I took a parang and tried to chase the reptile away. However, I decided to get help from my neighbours when I realised that it was quite big," said Khairul, who keeps three adult and two young goats in the pen.

He said one of his neighbours used his shotgun and shot the reptile three times.

With the help of five neighbours, he pulled out the 200kg python before burying it near the goat pen.

"I will use the goat carcasses to lure other pythons, which I believe are still lurking in this area," said Khairul, who had lost about 20 goats to pythons in the past nine years.

"There were times when I could only watch when a python swallowed my goat as I dared not go near the pen."

ANYONE INVOLVED IN GANGSTERISM WILL BE CHARGED, POLITICIAN OR OTHERWISE!

Anyone involved in gangsterism, regardless of their background will be charged says Inspector General of Police, Khalid Abu Bakar.

"Now that the home ministry has disclosed the details of the 49 gangs, namely gang 04 and gang 08,  the force will be full on into the case.
"In the case of high profiled individuals such as politicians being involved, we would like to make it clear that anyone classified as a gangster will be charged under the 'Societies act," he said at the IPK Selangor open house.
Khalid said most identified individuals have past criminal record and will be brought to court upon arrest.

"We are already on this case and the results are showing. We hope to keep it going,to make this nation a safer place for the people." Deputy Selangor police Chief, Datuk A.Thaiveegan said it's time for these gang members to repent.

"Its time for them to change their lifestyle and become better people. Why should they ne subjected to such a lifestyle when there are so many opportunities to live a good life in Malaysia,?" he said.

Thaiveegan said these people are still young and they need to realise that they are making their own lives miserable by being involved in such activities.

On another note, Thaiveegan said the recent case of an inspector having lost his gun in an accident is currently being investigated.

"We have proper security measures for the officers to keep their firearms, however in accidents as such we can't help it.

"The officer who met with the accident is badly injured and is currently unable to talk. So we are waiting for him to get better before proceeding with the investigation," he said.

UMNO TO USE "ELECTORAL COLLEGE SYSTEM" IN PARTY ELECTIONS ON OCTOBER 19, 2013

UMNO adopts Electoral College System
Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the system was chosen for the party elections, which for the first time will see about 150,000 members voting for supreme council members, as it was deemed the most practical due to the large number of voters involved.

PETALING JAYA: Although about 150,000 members will be voting in the upcoming Umno elections, the actual votes that will matter are those from the party’s 191 divisions.
This is because Umno will adopt the electoral college system, where each division carries only one vote for each post.
Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the system was chosen for the party elections, which for the first time will see about 150,000 members voting for supreme council members, as it was deemed the most practical due to the large number of voters involved.
“We have explained to party members how the system works. Although each division represents one vote, the grassroots will still be the deciders because it is they who will first vote to determine candidates their division will support,” he told The Star.
In the past, the Umno 191 divisions would send about 2,500 delegates to the general assembly to vote for the party leadership but this time around, voting will take place during the respective division meetings on Oct 19, ahead of the party’s annual general assembly slated for Dec 2 to 7.

Tengku Adnan said a candidate must obtain the most number of votes from delegates in a division in order to secure that division’s single vote.
The same system, he added, would also be used to elect office bearers for the Youth, Wanita and Puteri movements on Oct 12.
Tengku Adnan said that results for the party elections would be announced on the same day at the Umno headquarters. He added that ballot counting would start in the evening, with the results to be announced several hours later.
