KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a taxi driver believed to be the suspect’s getaway driver following Hussain’s murder.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the 44-year-old driver was detained in Sri Petaling at about 9pm on Tuesday in connection of the murder of Arab Malaysian founder and banker Hussain Ahmad Najadi.

“Initial investigations revealed the driver dropped off the suspect (known as Sei Ngan Chai) at Jalan Yap Ah Loy after picking him up near the temple...he claimed the suspect was his regular passenger,” he said, adding that the arrest would shed more light into the case.
SAC Ku clarified that police believed one suspect was responsible for the murder, contrary to initial reports of three suspects.“Witnesses claimed three suspects were waiting for Hussain. “So far our investigations pointed at one suspect but we will explore all possibility,” he said. He added police believe the murder weapon used was 9mm automatic pistol, based on the bullets recovered from the deceased. SAC Ku said police had also recorded the statement of the man, whom Hussain met at the temple for a land deal. “We are leaving no stones unturned in the investigation,” he said.
